MiRecord – Digital Maternity Record System

MiRecord is a dedicated electronic patient record (EPR) system developed to support maternity care across the NHS. Designed in collaboration between Harlow Solutions and the Perinatal Institute, MiRecord helps healthcare professionals document, review and coordinate maternity care safely and efficiently—from the first antenatal booking to postnatal follow-up.

A Purpose-Built EPR for Maternity Services

MiRecord is more than a digital replacement for paper records. It is a clinically focused platform tailored to the unique demands of maternity services. By providing a structured, centralised record, it enhances information sharing between community teams, midwives, and hospital staff.

The system is already in use by several NHS Trusts and supports seamless communication across multidisciplinary teams, while preserving the integrity of each patient’s care pathway.

Key Features

Clinically structured records

MiRecord aligns with national maternity care standards and supports consistent data entry, helping clinicians follow local and national pathways with confidence.

Secure and auditable

Every action taken within the system is time-stamped and logged. Data is securely hosted in compliance with NHS data protection requirements.

Improved decision support

Risk factors, previous obstetric history, and ongoing clinical observations are captured in a way that helps teams identify and respond to complications early.

Patient access options

Where enabled, expectant mothers can view key details of their care—enhancing transparency and engagement.

Interoperability

MiRecord integrates with hospital systems and NHS workflows, reducing duplication and enabling joined-up care across settings.

Supporting Better Outcomes

MiRecord contributes to national objectives for safer, more personalised maternity care. It supports the NHS Digital Maternity Programme and the wider ambition for interoperable records that follow the patient through their journey.

By reducing administrative duplication, supporting clinical accuracy, and facilitating multidisciplinary coordination, MiRecord plays a vital role in improving maternal and neonatal outcomes.
