Digital Growth Charts

The leading paediatric growth chart plotting software for height, weight and BMI utilised in the UK today.

Standalone or Seamlessly Integrated with all EPRs

Harlow are the designers and developers of Growth Charts for children in the UK. We have used our wealth of knowledge in supporting children’s health to develop the iGROW software which can be used standalone or seamlessly integrated with all EPR systems, such as Mediviewer, Lorenzo, EMIS, Cerner and Trakcare, eliminating the need to double enter data.

Intelligent Data Plotting Software

iGROW is the leading paediatric Growth Chart plotting software for Height, Weight and BMI, utilised in the UK today. To date, 30+ UK NHS Hospitals have chosen iGROW as their preferred digital solution, with many more at various stages of the implementation process.

Using the latest UK National Standard Growth Charts, including the UK Down Syndrome Charts, UK Turner Syndrome Charts, UK Sitting Height Charts and the UK Blood Pressure Charts, you are able to plot the data and view the correct chart along with any and all interventions made to the child’s health record.

Secure

iGrow software has been designed to provide a system for monitoring growth including height, weight, head circumference and BMI. The system will work both anonymously or with individual patient details.

Seamless reporting

The data is stored in a standard SQL database and is therefore readily available for analysis using standard report writing tools or export as a csv file.

Adaptable

The data recorded can be as simple or as complex as you require, obviously the more data recorded the more in depth the analysis that can be performed. The following data can be recorded in the system however, none of the data fields are mandatory.

iGROW Digital Growth Chart Features

Integration with EPR systems

iGROW integrates with child health systems for seamless growth chart plotting

Network access

The system supports growth chart monitoring, data import/export, and Excel analysis

Plotting and auditing

Electronic growth charts ensure accurate plotting with an unalterable audit trail

Paperless Digital Child Growth Chart System

Our digital child growth chart system, iGROW, is a fully paperless early child growth chart plotting system which follows the whole course of a child’s growth covering height, weight and head circumference. iGROW tracks child growth with UK charts, auditable data, and precise measurements up to 20 years old.

Key Features

Plot height/weight and calculate the BMI for each patient until they are 20 years old

The ability to plot the data and view the correct chart along with any and all interventions made to the child’s health record

The only system in the UK which utilises UK data to calculate accurate measurements

iGROW Functionalities

Specialist charts
  • WHO/UK1990 0-20 standard Charts
  • Turners Charts
  • Down’s Charts
  • Sitting Height Charts
  • Blood Pressure Charts
  • Ability to email charts/notes to authorised recipients
Surveillance system functions
  • Data analysis by recorded information, i.e., height, weight, BMI etc, by ethnic group, breastfeeding, smoking habits, etc.
  • Export data in various formats.
Recorded data
  • Individual personal details, including name address etc.
  • Height, weight and head circumference. On entering height and weight, BMI is automatically calculated.
  • All data input and/or altered is fully auditable utilising the back-office functions. Through the use of assigned individual licences, information entered is then tracked back to the individual user.
  • 10 free fields where the data is defined by the user. For example, if the user wishes to analyse the results based on school attended, then this information could be recorded in one of the free fields.
Screening individual records
  • Individual growth patterns can be recorded and viewed on standard charts.
  • Data sharing across disciplines. Growth charts can be accessed by authorised users, so social services, health visitors, paediatricians, etc., all have instance access.
  • Charts and notes can be freely emailed within the authorised user group (no external email, avoiding possible accidental emailing of personal data to unauthorised personnel).
Interfacing
  • Designed with a standard API which will enable our system to work as a ‘plug-in’ to any existing system facilitating data sharing and seamless integration.
  • The system will also work as a standalone product. iGrow is now installed in over 30+ NHS Trusts throughout the UK, with the majority being linked to the Hospital/Trust’s EPR of choice, using a bespoke API.
  • It is now also hosted in a secure Cloud environment inside HSCN to allow other customers to utilise its versatility. iGrow is the only system in the UK which utilises the UK data behind the charts to calculate the measurement.
  • iGrow is the only system in the UK which utilises the UK data behind the charts to calculate the measurement, resulting in a far more accurate plot than simply using an X-Y axis and an image overlay.
  • "From our implementation experience, we’ve found that digital growth charts are a key requirement for Secondary Care Trusts/Health Boards that are implementing an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) and/or certain Electronic Patient Records (EPRs). The challenge we’re often faced with is answering: “Where paper is removed for scanning, or replaced by eForms, how can Paediatric staff plot growth data over time?” In addressing this, the knowledge held by Harlow around the charts we’ve found is unparalleled. This combined with the software development, integration and implementation support services from Harlow makes for an incredibly swift and effective implementation. Take our last deployment for example; Informed through comprehensive documentation issued by Harlow, once Trust pre-reqs are in place, the implementation, integration and go-live was delivered in just 2 months. This was further complemented by great end-user feedback from clinicians. We’ve found that AD Integration as well as the ability for staff to launch iGROW, in patient context, from the EDMS/EPRs is a key enabler for optimised user experience. We’ve also seen benefits with outputting a copy of the charts to the main patient record in the EDMS for Subject Access Request Teams as the EDMS presents more of a complete record, without having to access siloed systems."

  • "When iGROW came online, I was initially sceptical as to how easy it would be to use. From the first time I tried it, however, I found it extremely easy to navigate and really very intuitive. Entering data is painless and quick and it is impressive to see the new plots appearing almost instantly on the relevant chart. I’d say that it is as quick as plotting measurements on the paper charts, but with the very real bonus that there is less margin for error than with the paper charts, where there is always a risk that a set of measurements will be plotted incorrectly. Because my special interest is in neurodisability, it is also wonderful that my cohort of children who have Down syndrome is catered for with an electronic version of the specific chart for children with the syndrome. The product is extremely satisfying to use. Many thanks to you and all the team at Harlow for having developed it."

Marian McGowan - St. George’s Hospital

  • "The unanimous feedback from my colleagues regarding the iGROW system is that it has definitely been a positive move. The system is easy to use, quick and is much more preferable to the ad-hoc availability of the paper charts, which is what we had experienced when the paper based notes were replaced by a system of scanned electronic medical records. iGROW operates well, linked to our EDM and it populates the demographic data from EDM well. We value the way in which the corrected age is calculated and plotted for pre-term infants, much easier and reliable than the manual method. The back-up from your team, for sorting out some of the teething problems such as duplication of records has been excellent, with fairly quick and effective responses."
